Red Tailed Cockatoo (shrinking habitat)
Award winner in 2009
This oil painting is symbolic of the loss of habitat form most of our native species. I have focused on the red tail cockatoo for this piece. The female red tail is shown next to her nest and the only food that she will consume is the nuts from a marri tree while the male red tail (shown below her in the middle distance) searches for a new tree. While on the horizon the town expands into farmland wiping out more habitats and possilbe the future of the red tail and many associated species.
