When we draw a line on a white canvas, we can create images that represent everyday life. What is the origin of a drawing? The simple answer is: one line. What is at the origin of a sculpture? Undeniably to occupy “space”, to exist, to connect to consciousness. With this artwork the intent is to blend the two realities whereby the space becomes the blank canvas and the shape in vision takes life on its own with intricate wire knitting. This female figure represented in this artwork takes inspiration from Daphne, a Naiad Nymph in Greek Mythology who was transformed into a bay leaf tree to escape from Apollo’s love.
