Arriving at Bluff Knoll recently, I witnessed the shocking extent of the bushfire devastation still evident almost two years after the scorching flames. The remnant charred trunks presented a strangely beautiful, yet poignant sight. Some of the trunks were blackened while others had lost all the bark and were white and smooth, almost as if they had been polished. The devastation was such a jarring contrast against the fresh and colourful regrowth. Nature's struggle was evident with the emergence of new growth on those blackened trees and ground hugging plants , a stunning riot of textures and diverse hues. My artwork is homage to that struggle.
