Juukan Caves
Carly Le-Cerf
Medium: oil and encaustic on board
After my recent painting jaunt in the Pilbara this year, I couldn't help but be be moved by the magnificence of the region. It felt like such ancient country. I found myself wondering who had walked before me. Upon returning home to my studio, I was horrified by the news that Juukan Gorge had been destroyed. This is my visual story of a 46,000 year old priceless and culturally significant heritage site, since obliterated through greed and ignorance.
