Pilbara Pond
Kay Manolas
Medium: ceramics
This piece was inspired by my recent travels trough the Pilbara region. The outside depicts the rugged iron ranges that are at times almost black.I visited Mill Stream and swam in the magnificent fresh water which I have represented on the interior through the layered spraying of glazes and the addition of blue frit .It is made from stoneware clay bisque fired to 1000 C and refined to 1280 C after glaze and frit were applied. This is my representation of our rugged ancient Pilbara lands.
