Medium: mixed media
The Stirling’s fire of 2019-20 threatened every living thing within this area I live close to. The devastation I viewed bought me to tears. Thankfully the regrowth now totally disguises the distress.
I selected a pine board that had natural tree marks like the mountain-scape marks. I worked with this emphasizing these marks in charcoal. With pastel paints I love to capture realistically the beauty and colour I observe in skies, reflections in water, or the shapes and forms of trees and surrounds. In a less predictable format I use the wax medium encaustic. It is fun to combine this with other suitable mediums and mixed media to create interesting surfaces and effects.
