Gascoyne Dreaming
Sabrina Dowling Giudici
Medium: glass
Sabrina uses photomicrography to observe and record patterns at the cellular level, of seagrasses found in the World Heritage areas of Shark Bay and Ningaloo. She aesthetically translates them into art objects using kiln-formed glass, referencing her Italian heritage in lace-making, terrazzo and mosaics. Gnaraloo Dreaming is a celebration of and advocacy for greater understanding of the importance of Seagrasses and their conservation as one of the most productive and multifunctional ecosystems on the planet. Sabrina seeks to reach out to communities in WA where seagrass meadows are present and important, including Busselton. This artwork is based on the Posidonia coriacea of Gnaraloo Bay.
